Help on Braiding Rag Rug

I started a denim braided rag rug several years ago.  I would like to finish it, but cannot figure out the method I was using.  it is not the Toothbrush.  i have made those.  The rug was braided like hair, but it was connected as it was braided.  Does anyone have any idea on this method?  Thanks.

Backtrack by taking a few

Backtrack by taking a few inches apart. Jot down notes. Reverse them when reassembling.

Your question helped me figure out how to attach the newest row of braid, to the previous row, without all that sewing, It's like doing cornrow on hair, Much more secure to withstand the regular wash, spin-dry, and drying cycles.

i am just curious. about how much fabric would it take to make a rug? obviously it depends on how large the rug is. perhaps you can tell me how long a braided section would be if after braiding three 6 foot lengths?

I am working on a rag rug, but having trouble with it laying flat, mine looks more like a tripping hazard than a rug. What am I doing wrong?
