cleaning rugs

I'm new to this and very excited to have some rag rugs in my house! But I keep hearing a voice in the back of my head..."how am I going to clean this rug?" How do you all clean your rugs when they become soiled?

Jessica, I have a rag run in front of my kitchen sink and when it is time for a washing I throw it in my machine on gentle and hang to dry. It looks exactly like it did the day I finished. Hope this helps.

By the way, since I use mostly previously loved items (sheets etc...) they have washed many times. When I do use newer fabrics I am sure to prewash before cutting.

Many people do not know this but most rugs, especially natural sisal rugs, can be dry cleaned. The process works quite well in penetrating the fibers. You can remove tough stains this way.
