Hi everyone came upon your instructions whilst I was supposed to be cleaning up our bedroom. I live in Liverpool, United Kingdom and love creating lots of things using different crafts, knitting ,crochet (though not very good) and any thing that takes my fancy. In between all this craft I work as a Teaching Assistant in a Primary school. I have taken a photograph of the start of my toothbrush rug ( I am using a very large paperclip) but I dont know how to upload it , sorry. Take care and keep on crafting. :)

hi everyone, just found out
hi everyone, just found out about toothbrush rugs yesterday, i was looking on e bay for rag rug tools etc and saw toothbrush rugs mentioned, i was intrigued and had to find out more! A quick Google brought me to RAGRUGCAFE . i have never heard the term toothbrush rug used in the uk, in the north of England we make peg rugs, proddy rugs, proggy rugs, all basically the same method but made differently to toothbrush rugs. i`m from Bradford West Yorkshire UK and i have recently joined a local `rugging` class - can`t wait to show them the toothbrush technique!

Hi all, originally from Canada, living in the Gold Coast Hinterland for a year or two...very hard floors, a lot of tile used here, so this craft, really an art form, will not only keep me busy this winter but my feet will thank me!!! I love to recycle fabric...too bad there are no Frenchy's stores here, could use the cheap denim supply!!!

This is great for when I want to weave but can't be at my loom! How do I make, or where can I get the tool? I'm from Cambridge, MA

I made a tool from a section of coat hanger and duct tape, similar to the one on the tutorial. I used wire cutters to cut the coat hanger, and two sets of pliers to bend it. A wee bit of duct tape, cut to fit, covered the gap in the hanger wire. I found that the side piece of a pants hanger has nicer, stiffer wire than an all-wire hanger. The tutorial shows a penny next to her tool for a rough size estimate.

Hi from Ft. Stewart, GA! I just want to add that you don't need some special or fancy tool to do this, I just use a safety pin on the end of my leading fabric. It works just fine!

Hi all,
I have made a few very nice thoothbrush rag rugs so far and I'm really enjoying it. I bought a bodkin, which is a tool to insert elastic into waistbands, and used it as my tool instead of the toothbrush handle. It works like a charm. Basically looks like a tweezer with a small metal ring around it, you can slide up and down to open and close the bodking with in order to attach it to the fabric strips. A great tuitorial is on youtube.com
look for LauraJaneV82 videos.
Have fun,
Petra
